Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the U.S. – an   estimated 24-million Americans live with it every day. A new study suggests that   diabetes cost Americans more than $200 billion last year. The human cost is much   greater – if if’s left uncontrolled, diabetes can lead to long-term health   complications including stroke, heart disease and blindness. 
There are two forms   of diabetes—type 1, which typically hits children and adolescents and type 2,   which has traditionally been adult onset. More and more, experts are finding   children with type 2 diabetes largely due to unhealthy lifestyles.
